Hello friends,

It’s that time of the week again where I’m back in your inbox, ready to give you the latest happenings in the social media world.

We’ve got everything from the Head of Instagram assuring you that the platform is not responsible for lack of reach to Google Images getting a bit of a Pinterest-esque redesign.

SO, without further ado, grab a cup of tea + a snack, and let’s dive into the latest social media updates.

👋 THE TOP STORIES THIS WEEK:

→ Posting twice in one day on Instagram doesn’t mean reach will be impacted BUT…

Adam Mosseri completed another AMA over on Instagram last week, and one user asked if they could post a carousel and a reel on the same day without impacting reach. Adam’s answer suggested that it won’t impact reach but sometimes you might find that one performs better than the other and that’s because of… Your audience. Some might see a piece of your content, engage with it and then see another piece of content shortly after and feel less inclined to engage with it as a whole. Which makes sense. As an accounting firm, people probably don’t need you to show up more than once a day. But if you’re running the Wimbledon account? Fans love, and want to see multiple pieces of content per day.

LinkedIn Premium has more perks than you might realise

Not an ad, not spon, and not endorsing the amount a LinkedIn Premium membership costs BUT I had no idea that LinkedIn had perks beyond the whole sending DMs to non-connections and seeing everyone who viewed your profile. Sue me. But with premium, you can get: one year of Lovable, four months of Headspace, three months of YouTube, three months of Notion Business, and more. So if you do have an account, make sure you make the most of these perks!

🔥 HOT TAKE: EMAIL IS A TWO-WAY STREET, NOT A MEGAPHONE

If you’d like the chance for your hot take to be included in The Social Tea, just reply to this email. I’ve loved reading through your submissions so far. Huge thank you to John Mckie for this week’s hot take, absolute legend + running one of the best email marketing agencies around.

💌 THE REST OF THIS WEEK’S UPDATES:

→ Your next customer might find you on TikTok, not Google, says Search Engine Land: “Ultimately, the future of SEO isn’t just about ranking when someone searches. It’s about becoming visible before they ever think to search.”

→ X is cracking down on creators who steal content to try and abuse its creator revenue sharing programme.

→ Newsletter platform Beehiiv adds a new community feature, which lets subscribers chat with each other. Would be interested to know if you’d use something like this, or prefer something you already use a bit more like Slack or Discord?

→  Google Images gets a Pinterest-esque redesign as it tries to become a discovery platform to keep users within the ecosystem if they can’t find something they’re looking for.

→ YouTube says creators have added $60bn to the US economy.

→ Instagram Edit’s is getting more creator-friendly tools such as the ability to import fonts, generate lyrics and video effects search to allow creators to find the perfect effect in seconds.

→ WhatsApp Business is getting multi-account support which allows business users to manage two separate phone numbers on one device. Finally.

→ Adam Mosseri, Head of Instagram, does an AMA every Friday and here’s what he had to *say on Friday 17th July 2026:

*The TLDR version, of course.

“Advice for someone who’s been posting for six months but isn’t growing?” Continue to experiment, look back at your data and what’s worked in the past and to stay true to the whole goal you have for being on the platform whether that’s building a brand or a product. Reach is just a means to one of those ends.

“Would editing captions after uploading ever be a possibility?” Not a bad idea, will share it with the team.

“Does Instagram punish you if you use the same audio that everyone else is using” No, the only things that will limit your reach is if you go against community guidelines and he reinforces that if you’re just taking content and reposting it (an aggregator account) that’s bad and goes against guidelines.

YouTube offers tips on using Shorts, and obviously recommends using all of the features available to you: remix, trending audio, hashtags, templates and stickers.

→ Meta announces a FREE global and online creator marketing festival, and it’ll cover covers creator trends, partnership ads, measurement and Meta’s product roadmap.
